The Haves and Have-Nots
Some of you know we regrettable moved this summer. We went from one of the poorest Clovis elementary schools to one of the richest if not the richest. It is night and day the difference. Three year old classrooms and building compared to fifty year old classrooms and building. I can't being to tell you how much I miss our old school. Obviously we don't know anyone yet and that will change over the school year. We came from a school where it was tough to get people to help and we fought for every dollar we could fund-raise. We had a lot of broken homes a lot of absent fathers and or mothers and parents who didn't care. That's what made our jobs so important. These kids needed us, needed the money we raised for classroom supplies. Everyday stuff.
The new school has money.....Money for fancy gadgets, new uniforms and shade structures(and how bad can the old uniforms be knowing the school is only three years old). When old school has to burrow a cotton candy maker for special events new school is making snow cones with their $1200.00 shaved ice machine. Old school selling churros at back to school night, new school has New York Life Insurance Company offering a finger print service while they quote you on a new policy. Old school movie night $5.00 new school movie night $15.00. This is elementary school not a college campus.........
New school is having an adult only back to school kick off BBQ. The wife and I thought cool, we will go meet some other parents and hang out. We got blocked at the imaginary door when we found out the tickets were $35.00. A PERSON!!!! And you don't even get dessert cause you have to buy it separate in the auction. At the old school we had families living on $70 dollars a week.
We feel out of place and don't know our place. How can I ever feel right about voting where the money will go(new uniforms etc...etc..)when I know my old school is in need. We have pretty much decided that any fund raising we do(my family) will go to benefit old school, new school has enough already. I was never embarrassed to say we went to "old school" but can't stand the thought of saying we go to "new school".

I'm Not Giving Up
More and more people I know are splitting up and or getting divorced. I don't accept it. Now don't get me wrong I understand if they cheated on you or they beat you or they won't change a destructive lifestyle. Waking up in the morning and saying "I'm just not feeling it anymore" is not OK. It's a cop out. Let's call it what it is "BULLSHIT". What happened to working it out, till death do us part...... My marriage is my CONSTANT. Whatever happens in this crappy world, I know without a doubt that my wife loves me. Even when she doesn't feel it, she still is there to love me. That is what we do, unconditionally. Sure it's tough a lot of times, for most people it is. That is what makes it so "better than anything in my life", Jesus excluded. When something is tough and you work on it to make it better, don't you appreciate it more. I have put my wife though a lot of crap, believe me! She just doesn't give up, and I'm not going to either.

Get Them in while you can
It doesn't seem that long ago that when I came home from work Jade and Zack would rush me at the door. Now it seems they just rush away. At least Jade does. Maybe something about being 15 or is it a girl thing? I don't know. She is only in highschool not off to college yet and I miss her like she moved away. And at the same time she drives me crazy when she is home. She used to be glued to my hip and now I have to pay her to hug me. In a few years she might be gone to school then shes really gone...........It's hard being a parent......I'm at tough spot right now watchin my parents grow older and watchin my kids do the same. I don't like it.
